Primary Filing Deadline Passes; Only One Contested Race On The Ballot In Carroll County For Either Party

The filing deadline for candidates running for their party’s nomination for county elected officials passed at 5 p.m., this (Friday) evening, and the field is now set for the June 4 Iowa primaries. Only one person has filed for the District 2 Carroll County Board of Supervisors seat: Republican Mary Wittry. Current District 2 Supervisor Mike Andersen has indicated he will not seek the Republican Party’s nomination in a reelection bid. Two Republicans have filed for the District 4 seat. Those candidates include the incumbent, Stephanie Hausman, and current Carroll County Sheriff Ken Pingrey. The remaining offices that will appear on the primary ballot locally are the recorder, treasurer, and county attorney, and the incumbents, all Republicans, are the only candidates to have filed for the primary. That includes Ashten Wittrock, Lisa Wagner, and Curt Steger, respectively. While no Democratic candidates have filed paperwork as of March 20, the Carroll County Democratic Central Committee can still nominate a candidate to appear on the ballot for their party in the Nov. 3, 2026, General Election.
