Janice C. Hulsing of Roselle

Janice C. Hulsing, age 77, of Roselle, IA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, IA, surrounded by her family.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Roselle.  Celebrant for the Mass will be Fr. Timothy Schott and Concelebrant will be Fr. Terry Roder.  Lector for the Mass will be Terri Vetter.  Gift bearers will be granddaughters: Lauren Hulsing, Lena Hulsing, Taylor Thomsen, and Mackenzie Kester.  Music for the Mass will be by Kathy Halbur and Kathleen Macke.  Casket bearers will be Zakery Hulsing, Hunter Hulsing, Jaxon Hulsing, Austin Hulsing, Trevor Hulsing, and Chris Hulsing.  Burial will be in the Holy Angels Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home on Friday from 5 – 7 P.M. where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 7 P.M.  There will be no visitation prior to the Mass on Saturday.

Janice was born on May 23, 1948 in Carroll, IA.  She was the daughter of Lawrence and Helen (Sanders) Halbur.  She grew in the Halbur area and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1966.  Janice was united in marriage to Robert Hulsing on June 18, 1966 St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur.  The couple made their home in Roselle where they owned and operated Bob’s Circle Steele.  Janice was very active in the business along with raising their three sons: Kevin, Brian and Cory.  Bob passed away in 1991.  Janice then attended DMACC in Carroll and earned a business degree.  She moved to Des Moines for a few years and worked BDF Brokerage Firm.  She moved back to Roselle and worked for Iowa Savings Bank, Aflac Insurance, and worked as an investment advisor.  She was a member of Holy Angels Parish in Roselle where she served in many roles over the years.  She enjoyed gardening, flowers, fishing, going for car cruises with the car club, and but most of all spending time with her family and her grandchildren.

Janice is survived by her three sons and their families:  Kevin Hulsing (Kris) of West Des Moines, Brian Hulsing (Tammy) of Roselle, and Cory Hulsing (Mary) of Morristown, MN; nine grandchildren: Taylor Thomsen (Max), Mackenzie Kester (Zach), Zakery Hulsing (fiancée Gretchen Wallace), Austin Hulsing (Ashlynn Brandt), Trevor Hulsing, Hunter Hulsing, Lena Hulsing, Jaxon Hulsing, and Lauren Hulsing; three great-grandchildren: Sophie, Miley, and Weston; a brother Gary Halbur (Jolene) of Roselle; two sisters-in-law: Patty Hulsing of Dexter and Sharon Hulsing of Carroll; three brothers-in-law: Jim Hulsing of Roselle, Darrell Hulsing of Arizona, and Alan Stovall of Des Moines; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.  Janice is also survived by her significant other Val Buchanan and his family.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband Robert Hulsing; her parents Lawrence and Helen Halbur; her in-laws Vivian and Norbert Hulsing; and a sister-in-law Peggy Stovall.
