Audubon CSD Holding Public Hearing On Proposed Property Tax Rate Monday, With A Slight Decrease For FY27

As budget preparations get underway, the Audubon Community School District is proposing a very small decrease to its proposed property tax rate. For Fiscal Year (FY) 27, the district has proposed a tax rate of $11.29205 per $1,000 of assessed taxable valuation, an approximate .027 decrease from the $11.29232 in FY26. The overall dollars levied however is increasing by $287,830 to $4,421,404 due to the increase in property and casualty insurance and early payback of the debt from the bond referendum passed in 2020 for major facility upgrades. The $7.5 million bond was issued to overhaul the building’s HVAC system, replace equipment, new sprinkler system, entrance improvements, and cosmetic upgrades. The public hearing regarding the proposed tax rate will be this upcoming Monday at 7 p.m. in the district’s board room located at the high school.
