The Carroll, Crawford, Harrison, and Shelby County Democrats are hosting the Harkin Institute this weekend for a water quality town hall with Iowans. The public is invited to Milk & Honey in Harlan for the program from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 22. John Norris, the Iowa Farm Unity Coalition’s policy consultant and former Democratic gubernatorial candidate, will serve as the event’s keynote speaker. The program will focus on the state’s longstanding concerns about contaminants in public waterways and private wells. The presentation will also include advocacy training with Progress Iowa, a political action organization that typically aligns with Democratic candidates and policies. RSVPs are not required, but a $3 suggested donation is requested for those planning to attend.
