Seventeen CHS, KHS Students Receive Top Ratings At IHSSA State Contest Over The Weekend

More than two dozen Carroll (CHS) and Kuemper Catholic High School (KHS) students traveled to Denison on Saturday to compete in the Iowa High School Speech Association (IHSSA) Individual Events state contest, and seventeen of them brought home top marks from the event. CHS had 12 students qualify, and the Tigers earned a “I” (excellent) rating in 11 of those entries. KHS had 13 students qualify to compete and received top ratings in 10 entries. Of the high-scoring students, a select few will be chosen to perform at the IHSSA All-State Festival on March 30 on the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) campus in Cedar Falls. All State nominations are expected to be announced later tonight (Monday).
