With spring break currently underway at the Carroll Community School District (CCSD), the Carroll Public Library is welcoming parents and students to check out free programs available to keep all ages entertained. Saturday will feature Read, Play and Grow, a program for children birth to preschool that will offer fun activities to develop skills for reading success from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. In the afternoon is an adult program “Women of Natural History” with naturalist and educator Kim White who will present stories on women throughout history who have made significant scientific observations. Monday for Maker Day will be Ozobots and Unplugged Coding, with kids recommended for 3rd grade and up to guide the Ozobots through St. Patrick’s Day themed mazes using Python and Javascripts coding. More fun is planned for Tuesday afternoon with the St. Patrick’s Day Picnic with snacks, crafts and activities all themed around the festive holiday. The last day of spring break will be a Peeps Diorama work day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., where kids can use marshmallow peeps to create various scenes to be on displayed at the library. If unable to attend the March 18 work day, materials for the dioramas can be picked up at the library during normal business hours and completed at home. Finished products must be returned to the library by March 18 deadline. All events held at the library can be found on their social media pages and on the library’s official website.
