City Of Lake View Applying For All-Star Community Award Through Iowa League Of Cities

The City of Lake View is applying to hopefully be selected for an All-Star Community Award through the Iowa League of Cities. At the last city council meeting, council members heard from Lake View Hometown Pride Committee member Brent Mueggenberg, who explained the purpose of the award.

Eligible cities must have successfully completed a project or operate a program in 2025 that emphasis city service improvements, enrichment to quality of life and encourage local government partnerships. Mueggenberg says the plan is to submit the community center as Lake View’s project in the category of a community with a population of less than 3,000. Mueggenberg says while there is no upfront cost to apply or a cash prize for being selected, it is required through the Iowa Leage of Cities to receive city council’s approval before applying.

City council gave unanimous consent to apply for the award. Lake View will be notified around June if selected and the public announcement will be made in August with recognition at the Sept. 24 Award Banquet at League’s Annual Conference & Exhibit. The city will then be in the running to be selected for the People’s All-Star award, which will be a social media competition. The picture with the most likes will be deemed the winner and receives another special recognition during the annual conference as well.
