City Of Glidden Fundraising For Several Maintenance And Replacement Projects For Glidden Aquatic Center

The City of Glidden is undertaking a significant maintenance project for the Aquatic Center and is hosting a spaghetti supper fundraiser to help offset the nearly $178,000 cost of the project. City Administrator Brooke Peterson says at the end of the 2025 summer season quite a few issues came to light that were needing to be addressed. She says the life expectancy of a pool is approximately 20 years and that is how old the Glidden Aquatic Center is.

Last year, the city council allocated Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) to cover the expenses to have the entire pool sandblasted and repainted, totaling over $63,000. Peterson says council members have allocated LOST funds to cover the expenses for this project as well and some grant funding to help financially.

Peterson says any grant funding and donations received for the aquatic center will allow for more LOST funds to be utilized elsewhere, such as a flag at the Freedom Rock and new play equipment at the City Park. A spaghetti supper fundraiser is being held at the Kruger Shelter House to assist in raising any additional money.

The Pasta with a Purpose will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Peterson says the maintenance work will begin in the next few weeks and will be completed in time for the opening of the pool for the 2026 summer season.
