The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is accepting public comments on a proposed increase to hunting, fishing, and trapping license fees for residents and nonresidents. If approved, the new prices would take effect Dec. 15 for the 2027 recreation year. The proposal includes a $1 increase for resident hunting and fishing licenses, a $1.50 increase for resident deer licenses, and a 50-cent increase for the resident trout fee. Resident lifetime hunting and fishing licenses would increase by $2.50. The increases would apply to all hunting, fishing, and trapping licenses, tags, and related fees, marking the first fee hike since 2019. The proposal was approved for consideration during a February meeting of the Iowa Natural Resource Commission. Public comments will be accepted through March 24. Residents may submit feedback by email, by phone, or in person during a public comment session scheduled for 1 p.m. on March 24 in Des Moines. Contact information is included below.
