CCSD Board Of Education Hears From Middle School Students And Agrees For DLR To Move Forward With Facility Plan At Thursday’s Work Session

The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education heard from two middle school organizations, agreed to move forward on the master facility plan and more during Thursday’s work session. The meeting opened with a presentation with middle school students who participated at the Regional MathCounts Competition in Council Bluffs on Feb. 26. The team of four placed first against 11 other teams, with five placing in the top 10 for individuals and are now heading to the State competition in March. The second presentation was on Tiger Vision Jr, which is similar to the high school Tiger Vision program, with a focus on middle school activities and students. The board discussed three architect firms to move forward with the facilities plan, with the agreement to stick with DLR Architect who was in charge of designing the transportation facility. Director of Business Affairs Nicole McCarville gave an update to the certified budget and the proposed property tax rate that will be 9.92905 per $1,000 of assessed taxable valuation after the residential rollback rate, at the most. She did discuss how the rate may be lower due to new legislation for participation in the budget guarantee. The remainder of the meeting was in a closed session in per Iowa Code 21.5(1)(a) to discuss plans regarding a specific student and then moved into an exempt session to strategize for negotiations. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more from the CCSD Board of Education Work Session in upcoming newscast.
