Lake View Hosts DNR March 5 For Annual Town Hall Meetings

This week, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will host one of its annual town hall meetings in Lake View to allow Iowa outdoorsmen the opportunity to comment on proposed rules and regulation changes. On Thursday, March 5, Iowans will meet at the Speaker Park Shelter House at 6:30 p.m. with DNR staff to review the recent hunting and trapping seasons and to collect public feedback. DNR Wildlife Bureau Chief Todd Bishop says, “We want people to come out to these meetings, listen to the season reviews, ask questions, and hear directly from our staff. Part of the meeting will be devoted to discussing potential rule changes and collecting feedback as we work through the rules process.” Comments collected at these public meetings are considered by the DNR as it crafts revisions to be presented to the Natural Resources Commission. Public commentary has influenced previous changes, such as expanded raccoon hunting and trapping seasons and adjustments to Iowa’s antlerless deer quotas. Nearly two dozen meetings will be held across the state from March 2 to March 5. A full schedule is included with this story on our website.
