Several projects are either underway or proposed for improvements to Goins Park in Lake City with the multi-phased park revitalization project. Committee Co-Chair Stacy Corey says the idea was proposed a few years ago when members of the community approached the city’s Park and Rec board with a request to add additional softball and baseball diamonds for the increase demand of Lake City’s little league program. She says along with those new amenities, more ideas were brought to the table to utilize the open spaces at the park that displayed so much potential.
Co-Chair Jess Daniel says many projects are already underway or completed including the pickleball courts and renovations to the park bathroom but there is so much more in the works.
Corey says each new addition or renovation will have its own subcommittee that will fundraise for that specific project. She says more information will be coming to residents in Lake City via mail in the next upcoming weeks.
Fundraising events are in the works but nothing is officially planned. Anyone that is interested in getting involved, whether by donating, volunteering or sharing ideas is encouraged to visit the official website, a link to which is included below.
