Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics (ACMH) has been named a 2026 Top 100 Critical Access Hospital by the Chartis Center for Rural Health. The recognition is based on results from the firm’s Rural Hospital Performance INDEX, an annual assessment that evaluates rural hospitals nationwide on operations, quality, patient experience, and financial performance. Now in its 16th year, the INDEX uses publicly available data and is widely used by rural hospitals, health systems, and state offices of rural health to measure performance. ACMH CEO Callen Weispfennig says, “This national recognition reflects the exceptional work happening across our organization every single day. It speaks to our employees’ commitment to quality, operational excellence, patient experience, and responsible stewardship of our resources — all in service to our community.” ACMH is a 17-bed critical access hospital serving Audubon County and surrounding communities. Services include emergency and acute care, laboratory and radiology, rehabilitation therapies, and surgical services, along with specialty clinics and two rural health clinics in Audubon and Exira.
