Dennis “Denny” Schroeder, age 72 of Carroll, IA, passed away at his home on Friday, February 20, 2026.
Dennis was born on September 27, 1953, in Sac City, IA, to Donald and Lois (Massteller) Schroeder. The family made their home in Sioux City. In 1961, Denny’s father passed away. His mother moved Denny and his four siblings to Wall Lake in 1963. He attended Wall Lake Community School and graduated with the Wall Lake High School Class of 1971.
A talented and well-rounded athlete, Denny especially excelled in baseball and basketball. After high school, Denny attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, where he studied Business.
On May 13, 1977, Denny was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Gae Fee, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wall Lake. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Mitchell and McKayla. They raised their family in Wall Lake before moving to Carroll in 2018 to be closer to their daughter.
Throughout his working years, Denny was employed at H&M Trucks, Inc., Lake View Concrete, and later spent twenty years with Cornbelt in Wall Lake, where he served as office manager. He also worked at Cookies Food Products before finishing his career as a truck driver for Farner-Bocken in Carroll, retiring in 2019.
Denny was active in his community and in his children’s activities. He served a term on the Wall Lake City Council, coached youth sports, played fast-pitch softball, and enjoyed men’s league bowling. An avid sportsman, he loved playing tennis and golf, and he treasured the many fishing trips to Canada shared with family. Denny was a loyal Boston Celtics fan and he rarely missed a golf match on television.
Soft-spoken, patient, and caring, Denny lived a life of quiet strength. He was content with what he had and never complained. Providing for his family was always his priority, and he took great pride and joy in supporting everything his children were involved in. Family time meant everything to him—whether watching his kids play sports, taking summer vacations, or traveling to California to visit his son and grandsons.
Denny’s legacy is one of love, devotion, and gentle kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.
