The Carroll Police Department recorded nearly two dozen sidewalk complaints following this past weekend’s snowfall, a reminder to residents to clear their walkways in a timely manner. According to Carroll City Code 136.03, property owners with an adjacent public sidewalk must clear paths within 24 hours of the cessation of the weather event, either by themselves or through a contract service. Those found in violation may receive a notice from city officials, delivered by hand or posted on the front door, and snow and ice must be removed within 24 hours of the notice’s posting. Sidewalks that are not cleared following official notice are subject to city clearance, and property owners will be billed for the removal, including a $75 administrative fee and labor expenses.
