Carroll County Supervisors To Set Public Hearing Date Proposed FY27 Levy

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors will set the public hearing for the county’s proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 property tax levy at their meeting on Monday. County officials are moving forward with $3.89887 per $1,000 of taxable assessed valuation for the General Basic Levy, a nearly 21-cent decrease, while the Supplemental Levy Rate is at $7.64589, about 10 cents below FY26’s levy. While individual tax bills vary significantly by valuation, urban homeowners should expect a moderate decrease in their FY27 county tax bill. Taxes on a 40-acre tract of land are projected to increase by a few dollars, functionally level with FY26. Commercial property taxes on a building valued at $1.17 million will increase by approximately $80. The supervisors will not be discussing the levy at length at Monday’s meeting; rather, they will be setting the public hearing date, which is the time when taxpayers can bring their concerns or complaints for the supervisor’s consideration. The remainder of the Feb. 23 agenda is mostly routine, including plat and payables approval, manure management annual updates, and committee reports. The board will also consider an appointment for the county weed commissioner. Officials previously discussed adding those responsibilities to an employee within the Carroll County Secondary Roads Department, and the board will likely make that official at Monday’s meeting. The supervisors convene at 9 a.m. in the supervisors’ meeting room at the Carroll County Courthouse, and the public is encouraged to attend. The meeting will also be live-streamed via the county’s YouTube channel. Links to the agenda and video are included below.
