No injuries reported but a few farm buildings and one fire apparatus damaged during the large wildfire in Crawford County yesterday afternoon. According to Crawford County Emergency Management, the county communications center received a call at approximately 12:34 p.m. for a field and ditch on fire near 300th Street and D Avenue in between Kiron and Boyer. Shortly after that first initial call, a second report came in that the fire had jumped the roadway and was spreading quickly east due to the high winds and dry conditions. A total of 19 public safety agencies responded, in addition to four private businesses that extended assistance with fuel and water support. The fire was contained shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, after thousands of gallons of water were used. Crews remained on scene, observing and extinguishing hot spots. The cause of the fire remains unknown and no further details will be presented. A full list of all the responding agencies can be found included below.
