Caring Hearts of West Central Iowa was one of the two recipients for the New Business award during the annual Carroll Chamber of Commerce Banquet, being recognized for their expansion and dedication to serving individuals in need throughout the community. The award is presented to a new business established in the last seven years, that encourages and promotes Carroll as the regional hub for commerce and community service. The non-profit organization began in 2020 by four women: Luanne Mowrey, Dusty Stork, Brenda Wickland and Mandy Halbur in the basement of the Hoyt Mansion. Carroll Businessman Adam Schweers says the whole idea sparked from just a dream to help individuals with disabilities thrive.

Over the last five years, Schweers says Caring Hearts has expanded operations, needing to move several times to accommodate the growth. Caring Hearts has extended their reach outside of the Carroll even, with an office and waiver home in Jefferson.

One of the founders and Director of Operations, Dusty Stork says while it’s such an honor to receive recognition, that was not the purpose of starting Caring Hearts.
