Trish Roberts, the St. Anthony Foundation’s former director, was recognized last week during the Carroll Chamber of Commerce’s annual banquet for her decades of dedication to the local hospital and to the community with the Public Service Award. John Ryan, the emcee for Thursday’s banquet at the Carrollton Centre, outlines the qualifications for recipients.

Roberts’ time with the foundation included multiple successful capital campaigns. Most notably, she helped lead the “Building Hope” effort that resulted in the construction of the St. Anthony Regional Cancer Center, which now provides the latest cancer protocols to local patients. While Roberts retired from the foundation at the end of 2024, her public service didn’t end there. Just a few months later, she was selected to fill a vacancy on the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Board of Directors. Roberts is grateful for the recognition, but that was never her intention. She says she was always driven by one idea: serve your community.

Roberts’ husband, Rod Roberts, received the Public Service Award in 2023. He had previously served as Iowa’s Labor Commissioner, and his career included a seat on the Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education and five terms in the Iowa House of Representatives. Following Roberts’ award last week, this would be the first time a couple had both been named recipients of the same award at separate banquets. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more from the other award recipients in upcoming newscasts.
