A special award was presented to Kurt Baumhover during the 2026 Carroll Chamber of Commerce’s Banquet on Thursday, honoring his dedication to keeping the Court Classic going for the past 20 years. Baumhover was chamber president in 2006 when he took a passion of his and proposed a weekend long event involving basketball games. Chamber Program Director Ashley Schable says what started as “Hoop It Up” has been rebranded to “Court Classic”, but still served the same purpose, bringing people to Carroll.
Newly selected Chamber President Justin Yetmar says Baumhover wears many hats during the tournament, from keeping score on the boards, organizing brackets, ensuring everything runs smooth all while making sure to catch every championship game each Court Classic weekend.
Presenting the 20th Anniversary Court Classic basketball to Baumhover was his grandson, Brody King, who will be participating in his first Court Classic Tournament next weekend, with Baumhover as his coach.
