Last night (Thursday), the Carroll Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual banquet and named Ryan Milligan as its 2025 Citizen of the Year. John Ryan served as emcee for the evening’s ceremony and explained what qualities the selection committee looks for in potential recipients.
Adam Schweers, who was last year’s Citizen of the Year and will soon take over as executive director for the Carroll County Growth Partnership (CCGP), introduced Milligan as this year’s winner. Schweers says Milligan is always searching for ways Carroll can improve, and he is often the one leading the charge when a new idea or program is introduced.
Milligan, who recently completed that term as chamber president and serves as president of Commercial Savings Bank, says it is humbling to even be considered for the award, let alone to actually receive it.
Milligan credits the many people around him, from his family and friends to his business partners and staff, for allowing him to be involved in so many different ways in the community.
Milligan joined KCIM on Friday morning to talk more in-depth about being named Citizen of the Year and about his work in building up Carroll and the surrounding area, and that interview is included with this story on our website. Other awards presented during Thursday’s banquet include the Heritage Business Award to Mid-Iowa Insurance and Real Estate and Performance Tire and Service, New Business Award to Crossroads Nutrition and Caring Hearts of West Central Iowa, Public Service Award to Trish Roberts, Hometown Hero to Don Bernholtz, Humanitarian Award to Michelle McGull, and the Good Neighbor Award to the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration and Manning City Administrator Dawn Meyer. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more from these award winners in upcoming newscasts.
