Crisis Advocate with Caring Hearts of West Central Iowa Michelle McGull was the recipient of the Humanitarian Award during the annual Carroll Chamber of Commerce Banquet on Thursday. This award is presented to individuals in the community who are dedicated to improving the lives of others while displaying compassion and selflessness. Caring Hearts Executive Director Joellen Buerckley says McGull was the brains and the heart behind the latest expansion of services offered at the non-profit organization.
Buerckley says there is so much strength shown from the individuals who reach out and ask for help, and McGull is on call 24/7, ready to show up in moments to help out anyone in need.
McGull says she was completely surprised by the nomination, as she just feels she is doing what she says is her calling.
McGull emphasizes that support from the community during fundraisers throughout the year is what helps to continue offering the various of services through Caring Hearts of West Central Iowa. The annual Chamber Banquet was held on Thursday, honoring businesses and community members for their dedication and service to the Carroll area.
