Terry Lynn Munch, son of Darrell Leon Munch and Marilyn Darlene (Sorensen) Munch, was born on March 10, 1957, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa, and died there at the age of 68.
Terry was baptized at the Hamlin Lutheran Church in Hamlin, Iowa, and confirmed at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa. He graduated in 1975 from Exira High School in Exira, Iowa. As a young boy, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trapping. In high school, he worked at the Audubon Sale Barn. After graduation, he worked at Herb’s Mobile in Hamlin, Iowa, and Southside Welding in Audubon, Iowa. He also spent time in southern Florida with the Hamlin Ranch Boys, and he came back a “hair dog” aka “dog” for life.
On May 30, 1982, while vacationing in Colorado, he was involved in a life-changing accident with his good friend Tom Hansen. After many months of hospitalization, he returned to work at Southside Welding.
He started a Steele Vault burial vault business in Hull, Iowa, with Larry Madsen, and ran it for several years before selling it. He lived in Des Moines, Iowa, and worked in the bearing business. Eventually, he moved to Carroll, Iowa, and started his own very successful business, Industrial Bearing Supply, which he sold in 2020 due to health issues. He then resided in Glidden, Iowa. He enjoyed his acreage, casinos, and his dogs Dudley and Rocky. In September of 2025, he moved to Audubon, Iowa, to be closer to family.
Preceding him in death were his father, Darrell Munch, and his niece, Randi Jo Munch.
Survivors include his mother, Marilyn Munch of Exira, Iowa; his brothers Jeff and wife Diana Munch, Mitch Munch, and Darrin and wife Jill Munch, all of Exira, Iowa; his nieces Brandi Munch of Des Moines, Iowa, Britni and husband Jesse Olson of Audubon, Iowa, and Megan and husband T.J. Wiemann of Exira, Iowa; his nephews Dustin and wife Becca Munch of Englewood, Colorado, and Garret Munch of West Des Moines, Iowa; and special Aunt Carol Sorensen of Independence, Missouri.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Exira Event Center on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Private interment will take place at Exira Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be directed to the family in memory of Terry and they will be designed at a later date. They may be mailed to the Schmidt Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 201, Audubon, IA 50025.
