Iowa’s Best Burger Contest Returns For 17th Year

The Iowa Beef Industry Council and the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association have announced the return of the Iowa’s Best Burger Contest, inviting Iowans to celebrate locally owned restaurants and the state’s beef industry. Now in its 17th year, the contest draws thousands of nominations annually as diners vote for burgers that stand out for flavor, creativity, and quality. Organizers say the contest connects consumers, cattle producer, and restaurants through a shared appreciation for high-quality beef. Nominations opened today (Monday) and close March 9 at 5 p.m. Restaurants must serve a burger featuring a 100 percent real beef patty on a bun or bread product to be eligible. The top 10 finalists will be announced March 13, with the winner revealed May 1 to kick off May Beef Month. Restaurants recognized in the contest often see increased customer traffic and burger sales during and after the competition. Consumers can submit nominations at iabeef.org.
