Carroll Man Has Probation Revoked And Ordered To Original Sentence For Criminal Mischief Charges

A Carroll man now must serve his original prison sentence of five years after violating the terms of his probation. According to Carroll County District Court records, 22-year-old Aven Taylor Vandenburg was ordered to two-years probation in Dec. 2024 for criminal mischief charges after pleading guilty to damaging slabs on stone at a business in Carroll. Over the course of the year, Vandenburg violated the rules to his probation multiple times, by not completed his scheduled SCRAM Remote Breath tests, failing to remain employed, was unsuccessfully discharged from three facilities for substance use programs, and received new criminal charges without informing his probation officer. Vandenburg’s probation was revoked and he was sentenced on Jan 22 to his original prison term of five years. He was committed to the Iowa Medical and Classification Center on Jan 27 to begin his sentence.
