Registration Open For March 5 ISU Extension Fraud Seminar

The Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach Carroll County Office is inviting residents to register for an upcoming fraud-prevention workshop designed to help older adults and their caregivers recognize and avoid common financial scams. The program, “Stay Independent: Spot, Stop and Avoid Fraud,” is scheduled from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, at the Carroll County Extension Office. The event is sponsored by Matthew’s Insurance Consultants of Halbur, and registration is required to attend. Everyone, regardless of age, is a potential victim of theft and other fraud. The workshop will cover what fraud and scams are, which ones are most common in Iowa, why older adults are frequently targeted, warning signs to watch for, and ways to protect personal finances. The program is geared toward adults 60 and older and their caregivers and is part of the Stay Independent Healthy Aging series. Participants can register online using the link included below or by calling the Carroll County Extension Office at 712-792-2364.
