Patty Lansink, superintendent of Catholic schools for the Diocese of Sioux City, will step down from her position effective Feb. 27. Bishop John Keehner announced Wednesday that Lansink had accepted a position with FACTS Education Solutions to become the company’s regional vice president. Keehner says, “It is with much sadness that we announce the imminent departure of Patty as our superintendent. She has been a true champion of Catholic education, both as a building principal and superintendent, through the years. We will miss her professionalism, empathy, and deep faith. We wish her the best, and our prayers are with her.” Lansink began her career in educational administration as principal of St. Rose of Lima School in 2011. She joined the diocesan Catholic Schools Office in 2014 as a part-time assistant superintendent, later served as interim superintendent, and was appointed superintendent in 2018. Lansink, who is an Ida Grove native, holds a bachelor’s degree in zoology from Iowa State University, a master’s degree in education from Buena Vista University, and an education specialist degree from Wayne State College in Nebraska. On her tenure with the diocese, Lansink says, “I am grateful for the years spent serving the Catholic schools in the diocese and the friendships made during my time with the Catholic Schools Office. I will miss the regular interaction with the Catholic Schools Office staff, administrators, teachers, and the chancery staff as I move on to the next chapter.” The Sioux City Diocese oversees more than a dozen parochial schools in its borders, including Kuemper Catholic in Carroll, St. Rose of Lima in Denison, and St Mary’s in Storm Lake. The Diocese of Sioux City will begin a search for Lansink’s successor in the coming weeks.
