The Carroll Chamber of Commerce and Carroll County Growth Partnership (CCGP) will host their first legislative forum of the 2026 session tomorrow (Saturday) morning. The Feb. 22 forum begins promptly at 10 a.m. on the fourth floor of the surgery center at St. Anthony Regional Hospital. Attendees are asked to park in the parking garage and use the elevator to reach the venue. The approximately hour-long program features District 6 Senator Jason Schultz (R-Schleswig) and District 11 Representative Craig Williams (R-Manning). The legislators will open the program with brief introductory statement from each of the legislators, followed by questions prepared by the Chamber/CCGP Legislative Committee. The 2026 Legislative Session convened on Jan. 12, and there has already been significant movement on what were expected to be the most hotly contested issues. The Iowa House has already approved a bill that would ban the use of eminent domain for carbon capture pipelines, and both chambers have introduced legislation that would overhaul the state’s property tax system. Saturday’s forum is the first of four scheduled forums. The others are scheduled for Feb. 28 at the Kerkoff Shelter House in Manning, March 28 at Western Iowa Networks in Carroll, and April 25 at the Kruger Shelter House in Glidden.
