A Crawford County man faces a lengthy prison sentence following his guilty plea yesterday (Wednesday) in federal court to child sexual abuse charges. According to the U.S Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa, 42-year-old Bryce White of Dow City submitted his plea at the federal courthouse in Sioux City to two counts: sexual exploitation of a child and receipt of child pornography. During the hearing, White admitted to posing as a juvenile on Snapchat between August 2023 and August 2024 and coercing minor females into sending him depictions of themselves engaged in explicit conduct. The investigation began in September of 2023 after the parents of a Michigan girl discovered inappropriate messages on the girl’s phone. That investigation led to the discovery of over 20,000 videos and images on White’s electronic devices, including sadistic and masochistic conduct involving toddlers. White’s sentencing hearing will be scheduled following the completion of a presentencing report, and he potentially faces up to 15 years in federal prison and fines in excess of $500,000. The case was brought as part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Project Safe Childhood with assistance from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Midland County, Mich. Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). White remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending his sentencing.
