Two Fort Dodge Men In Custody For Allegedly Stealing Over $6,000 Worth Of Cards From Carroll Business

Two Fort Dodge men remain in custody on theft charges after allegedly stealing over $6,000 worth of cards from a Carroll business back in November. According to Carroll County District Court records, 31-year-old David Raymond Bermejo and 30-year-old David Shively were taken into custody on Dec. 22, 2025 after authorities say the two entered into a business located in the 500 block of N. Adams Street around Nov. 24, 2025. Bermejo allegedly distracted the owner of the store while Shively took a box with approximately 400 cards inside valued at around $6,700, concealing it under his coat and leaving the store. Both remain in custody at the Carroll County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond. Both have pled not guilty to second-degree theft, a class D felony. A jury trial has been scheduled for Feb. 17, 2026. If convicted, a class D felony in Iowa carries a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison and $10,245 in fines.
