The Carroll County Board of Supervisors will host two meetings next week as they close in on the end of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 budget process. The board’s routine meeting will still be held on Monday at 9 a.m. in the supervisors’ meeting room at the Carroll County Courthouse. The agenda there is relatively brief and includes a presentation from Family Heritage on employee benefits packages, a discussion on adding an ambulance department assistant director, the treasurer’s semi-annual report, and manure management annual updates. The board meets again, also at 9 a.m., on Tuesday. The supervisors are expected to make the final decisions on the budget for the county’s ambulance, secondary roads, conservation, communications, and information technology departments. The board will then review salary adjustments for the county’s elected officials, which include the county attorney, auditor, recorder, treasurer, sheriff, and board of supervisors. Officials directed department heads to prepare budgets with a 2.8 percent cost-of-living adjustment in mind, but requests from several officeholders exceeded that amount. They justified those deviations from the suggested 2.8 percent by comparing them with similarly sized counties in Iowa. The final piece on Tuesday’s agenda is review and approval of FY27 funding requests from non-governmental organizations. Both meetings are open to the public and will be live-streamed via the county’s YouTube channel. Links to the agendas and videos are included below.
