The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education held a board meeting Thursday evening, having a lengthy discussion on the staffing plan for 2026-27 school year, with other routine items on the agenda. The board was addressed during public forum by Julie Ayala on an incident that happened at the schools and was wanting to bring awareness of the importance of doing follow ups with students. Following that was routine items of administrative and personnel reports, along with board review policies, donations, agreements and more. Superintendent Dr. Casey Berlau made a point that from here on out the district would no longer be accepting monetary donations to the Tiger Cupboard, as it is currently well-funded, and encourage donations to be directed to other local food pantries in the area. The first action item on the agenda was the 2026-27 staffing plan that the members went into a lengthy discussion on, regarding declining enrollment, the district’s budget and how it can be spent more wisely, specifically addressing special education. Two public hearings have been scheduled for a later date, including for the fiscal year 2026 budget adjustment on Feb. 5 at 5 p.m. and the 2026-27 district calendar for Feb. 19 at 5 p.m. The board also briefly discussed updates to the district’s facilities plan and budget updates.
