Iowa Fuel Report: Jan. 14, 2026

Following weeks of declining gas prices, Iowans have seen that trend reverse since the beginning of the year, according to this week’s report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Jan. 14, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the state was $2.51, a 14-cent jump from last week. The national average on Wednesday was up just two cents to $2.84 per gallon. Iowa retail diesel fell five cents to $3.20 per gallon, 15 cents below prices from a year ago. The national average for diesel on Wednesday was $3.51 per gallon. At the Des Moines Terminal, E10 was $1.68, Unleaded 87 was $1.90, ULSD#2 was $2.11, ULSD#1 was $2.43, and E70 stood at $1.72. In heating fuels, propane prices rose one cent to $1.57 per gallon, while home heating oil fell 12 cents to $2.67 per gallon. Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site were down 41 cents to $3.09 per MMBtu.
