The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) is holding an open house in Denison tomorrow (Tuesday) to share feedback on the proposed dual bridge replacement and bucket roundabout construction projects on U.S Highway 30 and Hwy 59. At Denison City Hall between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., residents and frequent travelers on the two highways will be able to review the proposed plans and share thoughts whether for or against the changes with DOT staff. The project is proposing to entail a dual bridge replacement on eastbound and westbound U.S 30/northbound and southbound U.S 59 bridges over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. The other component of the project will include two bucket roundabout construction on the south intersection where Hwy 59 meets with west Hwy 30 and the middle intersection with east Hwy 30 merging with Hwy 59. Those unable to attend in person can submit responses online using the link included below. Feedback is being accepted until Jan. 26. Construction is tentatively scheduled to start in the fall of 2028 and be completed in the fall of 2031.
