Nick Jonas has dropped his first new music of 2026 with the single “Gut Punch,” the first track from his upcoming solo album, Sunday Best.
On Instagram, Nick said in a video message that he chose to release “Gut Punch” on New Year’s Day because he felt people would relate to its message: “There’s a lot of pressure to be the perfect version of yourself at the start of the year. And that’s just not possible and that’s okay.” Jonas added in a statement: “I tend to be hypercritical of myself, not typically about my appearance or getting older, but I was wondering, ‘Am I doing everything to be the best version of myself? Am I a present and thoughtful husband? Am I a good father?’ As time goes by, the stress and complications of life will weigh on you. It’s important to remember there was once a version of you who was carefree and loved the world.”
Jonas previously announced he will release his album Sunday Best on February 6th, marking his first solo project in almost five years and the follow up to his previous solo album, Spaceman (March 2021). Featuring 11-tracks, Sunday Best will explore Nick’s life as a husband to actress Priyanka Chopra, and father to their daughter, Malti.
Nick shared the Sunday Best cover art on Instagram, which features him looking at his reflection in a bathroom mirror while getting dressed for the day. On the wall behind him hangs a piece of construction paper with three paint handprints on it. Nick shares, “I’m so excited to share these new stories, candid thoughts, quiet walks home in the city, and snapshots of my life over these past few years. And while this album was made over the course of the last two years, it was truly 33 years in the making.”
