Carroll County Engineer Zac Andersen presented the Secondary Roads Department’s proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 budget to the Carroll County Board of Supervisors this (Monday) morning and outlined several of the major construction projects that are planned for this summer. Andersen says the largest project on the schedule is diamond grinding on County Road N14, also known as Granite Avenue, which will be tied into a smaller diamond grinding effort on County Road M68, or Delta Avenue.

Combined, those two projects total $950,000. Andersen says the only other major project slated for this summer is a bridge replacement with a box culvert between Lidderdale and Lanesboro.

Combined, these projects total $1.157 million and will be entirely funded by local tax dollars. Road construction budgeting differs from regular budgeting, as projects are included in the fiscal year in which they are let, rather than when payment is issued. Looking at the FY27 construction schedule, nearly $8.2 million in projects are budgeted. In addition to the previously listed items, the total includes rehabilitation work on County Road N33 (Noble Avenue), County Road M68 (Delta Avenue), 185th Street, County Road N20 (Jade Avenue), and another bridge replacement. Of that $8.2 million, $5.3 million comes from state and federal funding sources, such as the Farm-to-Market program. While these projects appear in the FY27 budget, construction is unlikely to begin until FY28 or later.
