Americans’ Top New Year’s Resolutions For 2026

Last week, survey company YouGov released the results of a study gauging the most popular New Year’s resolutions for Americans, with exercising more unsurprisingly taking the top spot. The survey, which polled 1,104 U.S. adults about their likelihood to change their habits as the calendar shifts, found 25 percent of Americans want to be more physically active in 2026, 23 percent plan to focus more on their happiness, and 22 percent intend to eat healthier. Tied at 21 percent were resolutions to save more money or to improve physical health. Interestingly, Americans under the age of 30 were more likely to focus on their happiness, 34 percent, compared to their older counterparts, who responded only 15 percent in the over 65 category, 20 percent for 45- to 64-year-olds, and 27 percent for 30- to 44-year-olds. Last year’s most common resolution was to save more money, with 26 percent of respondents at the end of 2024 suggesting that would be their priority for 2025.
