No injuries were reported following a fire in southern Greene County early Monday morning that leveled a home. According to Fire Chief Brayton Bonney, the Bayard Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 3:10 a.m. to a structure fire at 2217 Brentwood Ave., just over four miles northwest of Bayard. Upon arrival, crews found the home fully engulfed in flames. Bonney says one occupant was home when the fire started, but they were able to escape before the fire grew out of control. Firefighters remained on the scene for more than two hours, returning to the fire station around 5:30 a.m. Bonney says the home sustained extensive structural damage and is considered a total loss.
