After seven months of water advisories, in and out of increased conservation practices, communities and rural customers in southern Audubon County that receive water through Regional Water Rural Water Association (RWRWA) have all restrictions lifted and are back to normal operations. RWRWA announced yesterday (Monday) the downgrade of the Level Yellow advisory to a Level Green, which ends the requirement of water conservation. RWRWA General Manager Tom Kallman says due to the completion of the Minden Pipeline and York Booster Station projects, additional water capacity is available to the Avoca Treatment Plant Distribution System, saying “It has been a long time coming, and we couldn’t have gotten here without the efforts of our customers. My team and I want to especially thank Jason Meredith and the folks at West Central Iowa Rural Water Association for loaning us the temporary pump trailer. Their help was absolutely critical to our success. Thank you to all of those who helped make these projects happen.” The affected areas included rural customers in Shelby, Audubon, Cass, Harrison, and Northern Pottawattamie Counties, and the communities of Exira, Brayton, Kirkman, Avoca, Portsmouth, Westphalia, Tennant, Panama, Earling and Persia.
