Carroll Masons Host Free Christmas Meal

Members of the Carroll Masonic Lodge believe no one should have to spend Christmas alone, and they are hosting their annual community meal on Thursday to ensure everyone has an opportunity for companionship during the holiday. Joe Reed with the Signet Lodge #264 says they’ve provided this free offering for nearly three decades.

Preparations for the meal began last week with grocery shopping. They’ll begin preparing the food today (Tuesday), which will then be refrigerated until it is ready to be served on Christmas. The meal begins at 12 p.m. on Thursday at the Carroll Masonic Lodge, 2002 Highway 71. Reed says they rely on volunteers to keep everything running smoothly, and anyone willing to lend a hand is asked to be there by 10:15 a.m.

He thanks volunteers in advance, as well as the meal’s many sponsors, including Hy-Vee, Fareway, Market on 30, Walmart, and Drees Co. Reed says events like this help strengthen the sense of community.

Again, the free meal begins at 12 p.m. on Christmas at the Carroll Masonic Lodge, 2002 Highway 71 N.
