The Calhoun County Board of Supervisors are seeking applications for an appointment to serve in the vacancy for the county auditor position until the next general election. The vacancy was created after current Auditor Robin Batz plans to retire at the start of the new year after over 31 years of service. Batz says while she will miss the everyday events, she is looking forward to retirement and spending more time with her family. Qualified individuals are asked to submit a letter of interest, resume and qualifications to the county’s auditor’s office by Dec. 26 via email at rbatz@calhouncounty.iowa.gov or by mailing or dropping off the requested documents to the office at 416 4th St., Suite 1, Rockwell City, IA 50579. Interviews will be scheduled when applications are received with an appointment held during the board of supervisors meeting on Jan. 2, 2026. The selected individual will then serve in the position until the next general election in November 2026. A petition to hold a special election may be filed by residents within Calhoun County, with at least 20 signatures of registered voters in favor of the petition. Any questions can be directed to Batz, whose contact points have been included below.
