Earlier this week, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) opened sales for 2026 resident hunting, fishing, and other licenses. Licenses bought for 2025 expire Jan. 10. The DNR offers several options for sportsmen and women, including the Outdoor Combo annual resident hunting, fishing, and habitat license for $55. Anglers can choose the Angler’s Special three-year fishing license for $62, while hunters may purchase the Hunter’s Special three-year hunting license with habitat included for $101. Also available is the Bonus Line option for $14, which allows resident and nonresident anglers to fish with one additional line beyond the two lines permitted with a standard fishing license. Licenses are sold at over 600 locations statewide or online through the GoOutdoorsIowa system. The GoOutdoorsIowa mobile app, available for iPhone and Android devices, allows users to buy and access license information in the field and store multiple licenses in one secure digital location for families or groups. DNR staff adds hunting and fishing licenses make practical last-minute holiday gifts for outdoor enthusiasts.
