Powerball Jackpot Grows To $1.25 Billion

The Powerball jackpot continues to grow after no winning ticket was sold Monday, climbing to an estimated $1.25 billion annuity, or $572.1 million cash option, for Wednesday’s drawing. The prize now ranks as the sixth-largest jackpot in the game’s history. Iowa Lottery CEO Matt Strawn, who is also chair of the Powerball Product Group, says, “Any time the Powerball jackpot climbs into rare territory like this, it naturally captures a lot of attention. It’s exciting to watch it grow, and we want players to enjoy the moment while keeping responsible play top of mind.” Iowa Lottery players won 12,121 prizes in Monday’s drawing, ranging from $4 to $50,000. One ticket came close to the jackpot, matching four of the first five numbers and the Powerball to win $50,000. The ticket was purchased at Kwik Star in Newton but hasn’t been claimed yet, which can be done at any Iowa Lottery office. Monday’s winning numbers were 23-35-59-63-68 and Powerball 2. The Power Play multiplier was 4. Powerball offers nine prize levels, and players are reminded to check their tickets carefully. Lottery officials again urged players to play responsibly, noting it only takes one $2 ticket to win. Wednesday’s drawing is scheduled for 9:59 p.m. Central Time (CT).
