The new four-legged honorary mayor of Sac City was officially sworn into office during the city council meeting yesterday (Tuesday) evening. Two-year-old Golden Retriever Presley, received a majority of the votes back in November during a fundraiser election to help financially support the Sac City Bark Park project. Presley, along with his campaign team, Russell and Michelle Balo, will attend community functions, engaging with the public, and making routine visits to residents at the nursing home facilities in town and students at the East Sac County Elementary School. The idea and fundraising efforts for the Sac City Bark Park began over a year ago to provide a safe space for individuals to bring their dogs to run and play. The project is broken into phases and is estimated to cost around $32,000 when completed. Several fundraising efforts and a $25,000 Endowment Grant have moved the project into phase two. Completion of phase one with the installation of a six-foot tall fence will be completed in the spring of 2026.
