Exira Woman Pleads Not Guilty To Felony Charges For Allegedly Breaking Into Home And Assaulting An Individual

An Exira woman pleads not guilty to burglary and domestic assault charges after being accused of breaking into a home and causing injuries to the victim living there. According to Audubon County District Court records, 41-year-old Rose Ann Fletcher was taken into custody in October for allegedly breaking into a residence in Exira around Oct. 27 by kicking and breaking the door. Authorities say she then entered the victim’s bedroom and hit him on his head with a wooden piece of building material, causing a laceration two to three inches long. She posted bond and has pleaded not guilty to first-degree burglary, a class B felony, and domestic abuse assault with intent to inflict serious injury, an aggravated misdemeanor. A jury trial will be scheduled at a later date. If convicted of the charges, Fletcher could face a maximum sentence of up to 27 years in prison and fines totaling over $8,500.
