Polls Open At 7 A.M. Tuesday For House District 7 Special Election

Voters in Iowa House District 7 will head to the polls tomorrow (Tuesday) for a special election to select who will represent them in the Iowa Legislature’s lower chamber. The seat was previously held by Rep. Mike Sexton of Rockwell City, who resigned in September after he was selected by the Trump administration to serve as director for the state’s U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development office. The race features Republican Wendy Larson, who narrowly lost to Sexton in the Republican primary prior to Sexton’s most recent re-election campaign, and Democrat Rachel Burns. Both candidates reside in Odebolt. In-person voting opens at 7 a.m. on Tuesday and closes at 8 p.m. at the regular precinct sites. Voters unsure of where to vote should contact their respective county’s auditor’s office. Iowa House District 7 includes all of Sac, Calhoun, and Pocahontas counties and approximately the western half of Webster County.
