For more than two decades, the Kustra family of Carroll has helped get books into the hands of local children during the Christmas season, and they are at it again this year with the Holly Jolly Reading Drive on Thursday evening. Luanne Kustra and her daughter, Katie, are who first hosted the drive.
The New Opportunities van will be stationed outside Godfather’s Pizza on Highway 30 in Carroll from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11. Kustra says almost any type of book suitable for kids ages 0-18 will be accepted if in decent condition.
People have gotten into the habit of dropping of books with the Kustras for the drive year-round. It’s generally easier if they are dropped off during the drive, but Kustra says she’s happy to collect them if somebody can’t make it Thursday evening. Make your donation from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday in the Godfather’s Pizza parking lot or call 712-790-5244 to arrange a donation.
