City Of Glidden Asking For Community’s Help To Stock Local Food Pantry And Provide Winter Gear To Individuals In Need

Through the end of December, City of Glidden staff are asking for the community’s help to stock the local food pantry and supply winter gear to keep every family in need with necessities during the holiday. Annually, during the Christmas season, non-perishable food, personal hygiene products, coats, mittens, among other items, are collected at the Glidden City Hall during regular business hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, which will then be given to the local food pantry or to students at the Glidden-Ralston (G-R) Community School District or veterans in the area. Donations can also be dropped off on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the hallway for pick up the following Monday. The most requested items include: boxed or canned milk, cake-making supplies for a birthday kit, laundry detergent, diapers and baby wipes, “just add water” type food, plus coats, hats, socks, boots, and more. A complete list for both the Spirit of Giving Food Drive and the Mitten Tree Drive can be found included below. City officials will be gathering winter clothing until Dec. 12 and food until Dec. 30.
