Iowa Supreme Court Chief Justice Susan Christensen has appointed District Court Judge Amy Moore to serve as chief judge of the Second Judicial District beginning Jan. 1. Moore will succeed Chief Judge Gregg Rosenbladt, whose term ends Dec. 31. Rosenbladt will remain on the bench and serve as assistant chief judge. Moore was appointed to the district court in 2019. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University (ISU) in 1999 and completed her law studies at Creighton University, graduating in 2002. She also holds a certificate from the French Pastry School in Chicago and used to run her own pastry shop. Prior to her time as a district judge, Moore worked as a federal public defender, practiced privately, and served as a Story County magistrate. As chief judge, Moore will oversee judicial officers, court staff, and administrative operations in the 22-county district, the state’s largest, which handled more than 99,000 cases last year. Sac, Calhoun, Carroll, and Greene counties are included in this district.
