The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education held discussions on student resource officer (SRO), board finance committee and more during Thursday’s work session. SRO Matt Kennebeck and Carroll Chief of Police Brad Burke gave an update on the newly implemented SRO that is a shared agreement between the district and the city. Kennebeck informed the board of his role and that most of the feedback he has received from students, staff and community members has been positive. The board discussed next key takeaways they got from attending the Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) National Convention in November. Director of Business Affairs, Nicole McCarville presented projections for future fiscal years using preliminary numbers for state supplemental aid (SSA) and declining enrollment. The board reviewed the district’s shared agreements for facilities usage, athletics and more with potential changes happening for the next school year. The meeting concluded with a discussion on the board finance committee’s roles and responsibilities, as it has been an inactive committee for some time and an update on the district’s facilities plan. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more from the CCSD Board of Education in upcoming newscasts.
